Research grants awarded to GB Fellows

The AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) is funding a three-year project entitled ‘The First World War and Global Religions’. Dr Adrian Gregory (Pembroke College) is the Principal Investigator and Dr Faisal Devji, Director of the Asian Studies Centre and Reader in University Reader in Modern South Asian History, is the Co-Investigator. The award provides funding for two post-doctoral positions. Research will focus on o Islam, Roman Catholicism, Judaism and Protestantism and will investigate the role religion played as a means of supporting people through conflict, how it inspired both consent and resistance, provided comfort and reassurance and helped with hardship and bereavement. 

 

The European Research Council has awarded Professor Miles Larmer, Associate Professor of African History at the School for Interdisciplinary Areas Studies and the History Faculty a Consolidator Grant - Comparing the Copperbelt: Political Culture and Knowledge Production in Central Africa.
