Dr Julia De Clerck-Sachsse is the speechwriter and communications adviser to the High Representative for EU Foreign and Security Policy. Julia has explained the EU and its policies to audiences at home and abroad for over ten years. She also teaches political writing and public speaking to senior diplomats. Before joining the European External Action Service, Julia worked in the German Federal Foreign Office, focusing particularly on the EU’s Strategic Partners, EU Sanctions Policy and Election Observation. Previously she was responsible for Strategic Foresight on global governance, development and security policy at the European Commission. From 2005-2009 Julia was Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, focusing on EU institutions and the EU's External Relations. Until 2012 she was also a lecturer on EU Politics at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, Paris.
