What is the current state of the freedoms of thought, conscience, religion, and expression in Turkey, ten years since the first government of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and seven years after the start of  accession negotiations with the European Union? Panellists from academia and human rights organisations from Turkey and the UK will address this key question during the one-day symposium and seek to map out policy
options for the European Union and civil society organisations.
