Colonel Alan Saunders was born in 1886 and served in the Indian Police 1908-1914. His First World War Military service included serving in Palestine. He was District Commander, Jersualem, Palestine Police 1920-1926; Deputy Inspector General, Palestine Police 1926-1935; Inspector-General, Nigeria Police 1936-1937; Inspector-General of Police and Prisons Palestine 1937-1943; Police Advisor, Allied H.Q., Greece 1944; Director of Censorship, Middle East 1945-1946; Commissioner of Police, Tripolitania 1946-1952.
