The Library Collections
The Middle East Centre (MEC) library was established in 1958, with the mission of providing library resources on Modern Middle Eastern Studies for students and scholars, worldwide. The collection, today, comprises of approximately 45,000 volumes of books, periodicals & journals, and pamphlets, including a rich collection of microfilms of old Arabic newspapers. The collection offers publications in vernacular languages, i.e. Arabic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish, as well as European languages, with a geographical coverage spanning the whole of the Middle East and North African countries.
