The Department of Asian Studies at Cornell University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Burmese language beginning July 1, 2015. Initial one-year probationary contract with possible renewal, contingent upon teaching performance, the continued needs of the department, and availability of funding.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree and native speaker-level compentency in written and spoken Burmese is required, as is the ability to teach all levls of Burmese, and prior college-level teaching experience. Also required is an explicit understanding of the linguistic properties of Burmese, knowledge of the cultural background necessary to teach the language, and ability to work both in a team and independently. Applicants must be familiar with language-teaching methodologies, including technology-related pedagogy and pedagogical materials available for Burmese language instruction.
