St Hugh's Burma Internships- Lead Teacher Role

St Hugh's Burma Internships- Lead Teacher Role

17 March 2015

The Oxford University Internship Programme (OUIP) is offering an amazing opportunity to work in Burma, in association with St Hugh’s College, Oxford.

St Hugh's College is running its second English Language teaching programme at Yangon University in Burma this summer. The programme was initiated in response to Aung San Suu Kyi's call for help to improve standards of education in her home country. As her College, St Hugh's is committed to supporting Daw Suu in this mission.

St Hugh's is looking for an experienced teacher to lead 12 Oxford student teachers. The position would suit someone with experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language, strong leadership skills and excellent organisational skills. Due to varying standards of English as a result of Burmese military rule, the successful candidate should demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to teach groups with mixed levels of English speaking ability.

Some training will be provided in Oxford prior to the internship and it would be preferable if the lead teacher attended and supported the other teachers during these sessions.

The lead teacher will be paid a £4,000 stipend to cover flights, visa, immunisations, etc. Free accommodation is also offered for the 8 week placement which will start on 3rd July 2015.
