Antonian appointed next Director of the LSE

Dame Nemat 'Minouche' Shafik (DPhil Economics, 1987) has been appointed as the 16th Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), to take up post on 1 September 2017.

Minouche Shafik is currently Deputy Governor of the Bank of England where she is a member of the Monetary Policy Committee, the Financial Policy Committee, and the Board of the Prudential Regulatory Authority.  Prior to this role she served as Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Permanent Secretary of the Department for International Development, and Vice-President of the World Bank.  She has taught at the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University and published on a wide array of topics in economics and international development.
