Robert Barnes BA (Reed College), MA, B.Litt., D.Phil.(Oxon), Professor of Social Anthropology and Faculty Fellow (elected 1987). Professor Barnes specialises in the cultures and societies of Eastern Indonesia, and has a broad interest in Southeast Asian ethnography, history and languages. His major publications include: Sea Hunters of Indonesia: Fishers and Weavers of Lamalera (1996); Indigenous Peoples of Asia (1994); Contexts and Levels: Anthropological Essays on Hierarchy (1985); Two Crows Denies It: A History of Controversy in Omaha Sociology (1984); and Kédang: A Study of the Collective Thought of an Eastern Indonesian People (1974). |
