Professor Miles Larmer
Miles Larmer is a Professor of African History and a Fellow of St Antony's College. He was Senior Lecturer in International History at the University of Sheffield until 2013 and has previously taught at the universities of Sheffield Hallam, Keele and Pretoria (South Africa). He is a research fellow in the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies at the University of Pretoria.
He has published extensively on the political and social history of southern-central Africa in general and Zambia in particular, focusing on African nationalism, labour and social movements, and the relationship between mining and political change. His current interests include the political and military history of Congo: he is co-authoring a book on the Katangese gendarmes to examine broader themes of conflict and the Cold War in central Africa.
