Dr Abdul Raufu Mustapha , University Lecturer in African Politics and Kirk-Greene Fellow in African Studies, specializes in West Africa and in African Politics. He teaches on the Development Studies degree at Queen Elizabeth House. His research interests include the economic and political sociology of rural Nigeria. He has published recently on the Nigerian military, and on democratization as part of a comparative project with colleagues in South Africa. His paper on `States, Predation & Violence: Reconceptualizing Political Action and Political Community in Africa' is to be published shortly.
