Kalypso NicolaidisProfessor Kalypso Nicolaïdis, Director of the European Studies Centre, is University Lecturer at Oxford University, and a Fellow at St Antony's College where she teaches in international relations, international political economy and European integration. Previously she was Associate Professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and taught at the Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Paris. She has been nominated by the European Council a member of the new EU ‘group of wise men' (Reflection Group) on the future of Europe led by Felipe Gonzalez. She is also chair of the Programme on South East Europe in the European Studies Centre. In her research, she combines long-standing interests in exploring the dynamics of European integration, issues of identity, justice and cooperation in the international system, the sources of legitimacy in European and global governance, the relations between the EU and the Mediterranean /Turkey as well as preventive diplomacy and dispute resolution. She has published on the EU as well as other issues in international affairs in numerous journals including the Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of European Public Policy and International Organization. Her last books are Whose Europe? (edited with Stephen Weatherill) and The Federal Vision: Legitimacy and Levels of Governance in the US and the EU (edited with Robert Howse, Oxford University Press).
