Health and Welfare Provision at St Antony's College

Life as a graduate student at Oxford can be demanding and St Antony's College is committed to helping students when and if the need arises.

Medical Services

College Nurse

The College Nurse is available without appointment during term time (weeks 0-9 inclusive) at the following times:

  • Wednesday 3.45pm - 5.00pm
  • Thursdays 2.00pm - 3.00pm 
  • Fridays 2.15pm - 3.45pm

College Doctor

The College Doctor visits the College twice a week during term time (weeks 1-8 inclusive)

  • Mondays 2.15pm - 3.15 pm
  • Fridays 2.15pm - 3.15 pm

Appointments are needed to see the doctor. The appointments book is kept in the Lodge - please ask the duty porter.

Summertown Health Centre

At all other times you can make an appointment at Summertown Health Centre.

Telephone 01865 515552. When the Health Centre is closed you will be automatically diverted to the out of hours health service.

If you need medical help fast, but it's not a life-threatening situation, call 111 (free from landlines and mobile phones). This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a week. NHS Oxfordshire's website explains more about this service.

Dentist

St Antony's students can obtain dental treatment at NHS rates from Studental in Headington.

Welfare services 

University Counselling Service

The University has a professionally staffed confidential Student Counselling Service for assistance with personal, emotional, social and academic problems. The Service is available free to all matriculated undergraduate and graduate members of the University.

Mind Your Head Oxford

This is a campaign run by the Oxford University Student Union to raise awareness of mental health issues and get people talking and thinking about mental health and wellbeing. The website's Your Mental Health section has some good links to other organisations, as does the Oxford Mental Health Forum (see Links section).

University Disability Advisory Service

The role of the Disability Advisory Service is to provide information and guidance so that disability-related study support can be put in place throughout Colleges and Halls, University Departments and Faculties.

Senior Tutor

The Senior Tutor, Dr Sho Konishi, is available to all St Antony's students for advice on any issues which are affecting your academic work. He has regular office hours during term time (weeks 1-8). Appointments are not necessary:

  • Day: Tuesdays 
  • Time: 2pm to 4pm
  • Location: Dr Konishi's office (his name is on the door), first floor, Nissan Institute building (Trinity term 2013 only)

College Advisors

All students are allocated a Governing Body Fellow as their College Advisor, and are invited to have lunch with their Advisor during their first term. You should feel free to contact your College Advisor at any time to discuss issues of an academic nature.

OUSU offers a range of welfare services to students.

University Nightline

Nightline is a completely independent listening, support and information service run for and by students. It aims to provide every student in Oxford with the opportunity to talk to someone in confidence. Nightline operates every night between 8pm and 8am from 0th-9th week.
