Environmental Challenges in Myanmar Workshop

2 November 2016

Matthew Walton, Director of the Programme in Modern Burmese Studies co-convened a workshop on ‘Environmental Challenges in Myanmar: Protection, Development and Political Considerations’ with Khin Mar Mar Kyi of the International Gender Studies Centre and with the support of the Irrawaddy Policy Exchange on October 13th.

This second workshop in the Oxford-Myanmar Policy Brief Series focused on environmental challenges, bringing together subject matter experts, regional experts, Myanmar experts, and representatives from the Myanmar government, private sector, diplomatic service, and civil society, to address these pressing topics. We were especially happy to welcome Director Generals from Myanmar’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation as well as Members of Myanmar’s Parliament working on environmental issues.

Policy briefs in Myanmar language and English are expected to be published before January 2017.
