The Art of Managing Disorder in Iran
Maziyar Ghiabi is departmental lecturer at the Oriental Institute at Oxford University and Titular Lecturer at Wadham College. He obtained his Doctorate in Politics at the University of Oxford (St Antony’s College) where he was a Wellcome Trust Scholar in Society and Ethics. His first book is Drugs Politics: Managing Disorder in the Islamic Republic of Iran (Cambridge University Press in 2019). He has also edited the edited volume Power and Illicit Drugs in the Global South (Routledge, 2018). Maziyar is a political ethnographer and historian working on the Middle East and Mediterranean region. His interest falls at the crossroads of different disciplinary and intellectual fields, from medical anthropology, drug history and displacement politics.
