Dan Paget is currently finishing his DPhil at the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. He writes on the politics of sub-Saharan Africa in general, and the politics of Tanzania and Zambia in particular. Dan’s thesis is about election campaigning and political parties in Tanzania. He believes election campaigns across much of sub-Saharan Africa are rally-intensive, and that this alters both how parties campaign and how they organise. He expects to submit his thesis later in 2017. His work has been recently accepted for publication by the Journal of Democracy. He has three policy publications with widely recognised and respected organisations, one of which he was surprised to learn has been translated into Spanish, Arabic, and Burmese.
