Teohna aims to enhance appreciation and consideration of the impact of violent conflict and how prevention is now possible. She will share some of her insights and experiences from Business Plan for Peace and from her work on the ground in conflict-affected and fragile countries.
Teohna Williams, CEO Business Plan for Peace:
With her attention on international peace and security, Teohna has spent her career managing programmes and advising senior officials focused on improving security, stability, and governance in fragile and conflict-affected states. Teohna has significant first-hand experience in monitoring and investigating active violent conflict, strengthening security & justice systems, political engagement, humanitarian assistance, and in fostering community participation. Much of her work has focused on the reality and potential role for women caught up in violent conflict. She has worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as for a number of donor governments, international NGOs, and private contractors. Her main geographical areas of focus have been South Sudan, Haiti, and Papua New Guinea.
Teohna holds a Masters degree in International Affairs from Columbia University (New York), a Joint BA Honours in Anthropology & English from Oxford Brookes University, and a Drama degree from the Arts Educational School (London.) Teohna highly values the fact that she spent the first ten years of her professional life as an actor and seeks to bring the power of the arts to her ongoing efforts to build peace.
