People have long created their own cross-national systems, linked to commodity production and consumption flows, political and social upheavals, and migration. Stubbs and Krull interrogate the Cuban Diaspora through the prism of the Havana cigar, Cuban sugar production and the US Naval Base at Guantanamo: production and consumption; the transfer of people, knowledge and ideas; and inclusionary and exclusionary forces linked to broader forces such as class, race, gender and nation.
