Film Screening: 9 Years of Displacement
This film, Nine Years of Displacement, deals with the aftermath of the Georgian-Russian War of 2008. It takes a close look at the Tserovani Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Settlement, and how people’s lives have changed since losing their homes to the Russian forces. The Tserovani Settlement and its population do not dwell on past misfortunes, but rather try to provide for the community’s needs, while not forgetting the past. Three teenagers, Nana, Tako and Mari explain their adjustments to IDP life: its numerous disadvantages and a few promising advantages.
This event is part of the Georgian programme at REES.
