Born in Baghdad in 1937, Eli Amir moved to Israel in 1951. He is a prize-winning novelist and a social activist. His books are studied in schools and universities throughout Israel. His 1992 novel about the anguish of losing a homeland – The Dove Flyer – has just been published in English.
