LGBTQ+ History Month | Welfare Lunch with Dr Clara Barker
LGBTQ+ History Month | Welfare Lunch with Dr Clara Barker
Each term the college runs a free welfare lunch for students. The lunch offers an opportunity to speak to the welfare team, learn something new and socialise in an informal environment with fellow students.
This month, to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month, we've invited Dr Clara Barker to speak about her experience in STEM and academia.
Clara is a thin film material scientist, currently specialising in thin film superconductors with a project making these films for quantum and fusion applications. She is also a Daphne Jackson Research Fellow, lab manager at the Centre for Applied Superconductivity at Oxford University and Dean for E&D at Linacre College. She runs a youth group for LGBTI+ young people (and a support group for their parents/carers) and was previously the Chair of the Oxford University LGBT+ Advisory Group. She is passionate about diversity in STEM and works internationally to make STEM more inclusive. She is also a climber and a board game/ D&D nerd.
This event is open to St Antony's students only, and spaces are limited to 25, given on a first-come, first-served basis.
