Rt. Hon. Professor Shirley Williams is a Member of the House of Lords, where she was Leader of the Liberal Democrats from 2001 to 2004. She is also an active member of the International Crisis Group and now serves as an advisor on Nuclear Proliferation to Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Earlier in her career, she was a Member of the House of Commons and served as a Labour cabinet minister of Education and Science. Outside her career in government, Baroness Williams served as Public Service Professor of Elective Politics from 1988-2000 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
