Edward Posnett is an author and journalist currently researching Italy’s anni di piombo (Years of Lead), a period of severe political violence which lasted from the late 60s until the mid-1980s.  

He is the author of Strange Harvests (Bodley Head/Viking Penguin, 2019) and Eiderdown, the winner of the Financial Times/Bodley Head Essay Prize. His work has appeared in The Guardian Long Read, the Financial Times MagazineInternazionale, and 1843 (The Economist). Previously he worked for KPMG Risk Consulting, covering Southern Europe and the Middle East. He read Modern Languages (Italian and Spanish) at Cambridge before completing the M.Phil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford. He is an amateur potter, a keen mountaineer, and the former drummer of the Oxford-based band The Yarns.
