Sino British Fellowship Trust - Travel and Reserach Grants

Sino British Fellowship Trust - Travel and Reserach Grants

St Antony’s receives a generous grant from the Sino-British Fellowship Trust (SBFT), established by the late Dr Elizabeth Frankland Moore. The grants are available to academic staff and postgraduate students at St Antony’s College (normally over the age of 25) to make travel and research visits to China with preference being given where possible to research with an environmental focus.

Grant Information

The grants are given by the Sino-British Fellowship Trust to eligible members of St Antony’s College and are administered on its behalf by the Asian Studies Centre. Grant applications are considered by a committee of the Asian Studies Centre, which evaluates the academic merits of the projects and decides on applications shortly after the deadline when applications must be submitted. These decisions are then reviewed by the Trust to ensure that the applications can be supported under the terms of the Trust’s charitable objectives.

Award value

The maximum value for an individual grant is normally £2,500, although this upper limit may be waived in exceptional cases.

Applications need to be submitted in writing to the Asian Studies Centre and should include, as well as the completed application form,  a detailed proposal of the project (max. 500 words), sources available in China, a budget, and a letter of support from your supervisor confirming that the proposed activity is in support of your studies. If an award is made, then a short report on the project will be expected on return.
