Peter Kilby

Professor Peter Kilby (DPhil Economics, 1965) passed away on 2 August, 2018, at the age of 83. A development economist, he wrote his thesis at the College on ‘Industrialisation in Nigeria’, after attaining degrees at Harvard and Johns Hopkins Universities. He went from St Antony’s to USAID, applying his research in Nigeria. He then enjoyed a long career at Wesleyan University, in Connecticut, where he became highly respected for his research and teaching. 

During a distinguished career he held fellowships with the Fulbright Commission and the Ford, Woodrow Wilson and Guggenheim Foundations. 

He is survived by his wife, three children and six grandchildren.
