Assata is a Marshall Scholar and graduate of St Antony’s College. She holds an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Strategic Communications from the London School of Economics. She also holds a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University, where she graduated summa cum laude.
Assata has supported organisations across Latin America, Africa and the United States. Most recently, she worked with the communications team at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Zimbabwe, supporting storytelling and public information work focused on mobility and humanitarian response. She previously worked as an immigration paralegal and Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representative in New York City. She also spent a Fulbright year in Cali, Colombia, where she learned about Afro-Colombian experiences of displacement.
Assata chose St Antony’s for its vibrant international community and its commitment to global issues. As Liaison Officer for her hometown of Atlanta, she hopes to strengthen connections among Antonians in the region, create opportunities for local engagement and support prospective students seeking insight into life at Oxford.
