Carlos Magariños is an Argentine diplomat, entrepreneur and academic with an international career spanning public service, multilateral organisations and business. At the age of 35, he became the youngest person to lead a United Nations specialised agency when he was elected Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), serving two terms from 1997 to 2005. He has also served as Argentina’s Secretary for Industry and Mining and as Ambassador to Brazil.

Alongside his public career, Carlos has worked extensively in academia and the private sector, focusing on innovation, economic development and global strategic affairs. He is the founder of Global Foresight and has published several books on development, technology and public policy. Since 2006, he has been a Senior Associated Member of St Antony’s College, where he remains engaged with the College’s international community.
