George Carew-Jones is a climate policy and finance adviser who works with governments, investors and research organisations to address barriers to climate infrastructure deployment, with a particular focus on emerging markets. He has worked at the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, the University of Oxford’s Smith School and the consultancy ERM. His clients have included the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the Asian Development Bank, the Government of Zambia, the European Commission and UNICEF. His sector focus has primarily been on energy and water infrastructure investment.
George moved from London to Sydney in April 2026. He studied at the University of Oxford from 2015 to 2020, completing a BA in Geography at St Catherine’s College before spending a year at St Antony’s College studying for an MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Governance. He was fortunate to be at St Antony’s the year before the COVID-19 lockdown. George served as St Antony’s Middle Common Room (MCR) environmental and co-LGBTQ+ representative, and founded the College’s touch rugby team.
