Mihai Ionescu studied at St Antony’s Economics 1997-1998 on a Chevening FCO scholarship. Mihai was awarded a Half Blue in Volleyball, served as graduate computer assistant and bar manager.

He currently serves as the Head of Deutsche Bank Romania, where he is focused primarily on corporate finance and sovereign financing transactions. He also serves as the Chairman of DB Global Technology SRL.

Prior to joining DB, Mihai worked for Credit Suisse in London in the Financial Institutions Group and in the Emerging Markets Coverage group, both in the Corporate & Investment Banking Division. He started his banking career at Raiffeisen Capital & Investment in Bucharest, Romania.

Mihai holds an undergraduate degree in Finance & Banking from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. He also earned his MBA (Hons), major in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mihai is an amateur piano player and a volleyball addict. He lives in Bucharest with his wife and daughter.
