Mr Makoto Uchida Awarded CBE

We are pleased to announce that His Majesty King Charles III has awarded Mr Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Corporation, the Honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to UK-Japan business relations.

Mr Uchida, as President and CEO of Nissan Motor Corporation, has led the ambitious development of electric vehicles, including establishing Nissan’s global EV hub in Sunderland to support the UK’s net-zero goals. Under his leadership, Nissan collaborates with UK universities on automotive electrification and autonomous driving research. The Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies at the University of Oxford continues to develop leading research across various disciplines, and the Nissan Skills Foundation promotes STEM skills among children in North East England.
