Remembering Bona Malwal and his Achievements in Sudan and South Sudan
On Saturday 24 January 2026 a one-day event was held at St Antony’s College to remember Bona Malwal and his achievements in Sudan and South Sudan, following his death in November 2025. This was organised by the family of Bona Malwal together with The Sudanese Programme and with support from the Middle East Centre.
Presentations were made throughout the day by numerous speakers including Dr Aldo Ajo, Dr Bashir Abbadi, Dr Lam Akol, Hashim Muhammed Ahmed, Dr Ahmed Al-Shahi, Hasan Taj Al-Sirr, Dr Richard Barltrop, Dr David Bassiouni, Salwa Berberi, Nazar Eltahir, Makol Bona Malwal, Dr John Mairi Blacking, Dr Laurence Leaver, Martin Muortat, Thiik Gür Thiik on behalf of Dr Francis Deng and Gunnar Wiebalck on behalf of Christian Solidarity International and Dr John Eibner.
