Mr Danny Lau
Academic Visitor
Danny Lau is a Policy & Practice Visitor at the Oxford Institute for Ethics in AI and an Academic Visitor at St Antony’s College.
His research examines the legitimacy of AI-assisted adjudication and dispute resolution, with a focus on how institutional trust is shaped where efficiency, automation and party autonomy interact with legal reasoning.
He previously practised as a lawyer in England & Wales, Hong Kong and the PRC, including as a Partner at Deloitte Legal, where he served as Asia Pacific Digital Law Leader, advising on technology regulation, digital governance, and central bank digital currency (CBDC) initiatives for public-sector and financial institutions. He is also a Member of Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge.
