We’re looking for a proactive, collaborative and customer-focused Accommodation Manager to join the Operations team at St Antony’s College.
This is a full-time 35 hour per week role, (although up to a 28-hour week could be considered) with a salary of £33,951 to £39,906 gross per year plus an annual Oxford weighting allowance of £1,730.
About the role
The Accommodation Manager oversees the day-to-day management of student, guest and conference accommodation, ensuring rooms are clean, well presented, appropriately equipped and efficiently managed.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will lead accommodation and housekeeping services across the College’s 260 bedrooms and related facilities, ensuring a consistently high-quality experience for students, guests and visitors. The role includes responsibility for compliance with the Universities UK Accommodation Code of Practice (ACOP), College regulations and relevant health and safety requirements.
You will line manage the Accommodation Coordinator and Head Housekeeper, providing effective support and direction to ensure accommodation and housekeeping services are delivered to a high standard. You will also work closely with colleagues across the College to balance operational priorities, occupancy levels and commercial activity with the College’s academic mission and student life.
Some weekend and evening work will be required, particularly during student departure and arrival periods and to support conference guests alongside the Events Team where needed.
Your work will include:
Management
- Line managing the Accommodation Coordinator and Head Housekeeper
- Supporting the Housekeeping team, including recruitment and performance management
- Promoting a collaborative, inclusive and customer-focused team culture
- Managing supplier contracts, including laundry, waste and cleaning services
Accommodation Management
- Overseeing student room allocations in line with ACOP and College policies
- Managing room ballots, occupancy and accommodation contracts
- Reviewing and improving accommodation processes and service standards
- Managing complaints relating to accommodation and housekeeping
- Working closely with Maintenance and Housekeeping teams to resolve issues promptly
- Managing room audits, refurbishment planning and replacement of furniture and furnishings
Legislation and Compliance
- Ensuring the College remains compliant with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Overseeing compliance with COSHH and Health and Safety regulations
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to accommodation, housekeeping and student storage
- Supporting sustainability initiatives and recycling practices
Reporting and Financial Management
- Managing accommodation budgets and monitoring expenditure
- Producing rent reports and ensuring accurate billing and invoicing
- Managing procurement and contractor performance in line with College procedures
- Producing reports and operational data as required
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment
- Management experience within hospitality, accommodation or a Higher Education setting
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and sensitively with colleagues, students and guests
- Ability to lead a customer-focused team and deliver excellent customer service
- Strong knowledge of health and safety policies and compliance requirements
- Excellent IT and data management skills, particularly Microsoft Office, and willingness to learn new systems
- Flexible, proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- Highly numerate, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams
Desirable
- Experience working in an educational environment
- Knowledge of ACOP and accommodation systems such as Kinetics
- Sympathy with the values and ethos of a small, international community
