St Antony’s College is recruiting for a Middle East Centre Administrator. This is a varied and interesting role involving events management and communications, as well as general administration.

The Middle East Centre Administrator is responsible for delivering first-class administration, events organisation, and communications for the Middle East Centre (MEC). Based full-time in person at the Centre and as the first point of contact for all enquiries, you will play a key role in raising the public profile of the MEC. You will manage the Centre’s marketing and communications, including the Centre’s social media presence, and maintain relations with MEC graduates of both St Antony’s and other Oxford Colleges. The MEC hosts an extensive programme of seminars and events throughout the year, and you will be responsible for the organisation and promotion of these events.

To be successful in your application, you will have relevant administration, event coordination, and communications experience with a keen eye for detail and an ability to work independently and resourcefully. Strong organisational and time-management skills and a flexible, proactive approach to your work, together with the ability to work under pressure and communicate effectively with a wide range of people will be essential. You will need strong numeracy skills and have experience of overseeing and reporting on budgets. Experience of working in a higher education setting and knowledge of or interest in the Middle East would be advantageous. As the workload is variable, it may be necessary to work outside core hours occasionally, including evenings and weekends, with time off in lieu being taken).

St Antony’s College is one of the seven graduate colleges of the University of Oxford. The College specialises in the interdisciplinary study of international relations, economics, politics and history of particular parts of the world and has around 550 postgraduate students. The MEC is the centre for the interdisciplinary study of the modern Middle East in the University of Oxford and is one of the seven regional research centres at St Antony’s College.

This is a permanent, full-time post.

The office working hours are normally 9.00am to 5.00pm on Mondays to Fridays, with an unpaid hour for lunch each day. Some flexibility is required as the workload is variable. It may be necessary to work outside core hours occasionally, including evening and weekends, with time off in lieu being taken.

The Middle East Centre Administrator will be paid on the University grade 5 scale, currently £28,759 – £33,966 gross per annum.
