My name is Natalie Mae Evelyn. I am from Hong Kong and currently pursuing a DPhil in Sociology at Oxford, generously supported by the Swire Scholarship.

How did you feel when you found out that you had been awarded the scholarship?

I felt deeply grateful upon learning I had received the scholarship. It was an incredibly affirming moment, knowing that my research and potential had been valued.

How has receiving the scholarship impacted your life and educational journey?

The scholarship has significantly shaped my academic experience, allowing me the freedom to fully dedicate myself to my research without any worries. It has enabled me to explore in depth the complex ways artificial intelligence and crime influence society. With the generous support of Swire, I collaborated with international scholars and published a few studies (details below), met with representatives from different countries to discuss the issue of cybercrime, and delivered a short speech on AI-related crime. These experiences have strengthened my position in ongoing discussions surrounding AI and crime.
