Associate Membership through the Platt Programme
Being an Associate Member at St Antony’s College involves acting as a ‘college advisor’ for four (occasionally five) graduate students in the College. Associate Members are entitled to free lunches in College throughout the year and they are briefed and supported by the Head of the Academic Office, Dean and Senior Tutor. If you are interested in becoming an Associate Member, please take a look at the FAQs below, or contact our Memberships Manager on memberships@sant.ox.ac.uk.
An Associate Member at St Antony’s contributes to the intellectual life and research community of the College.
This Programme was made possible through a legacy gift from Sylvia Platt.

The role of the College Advisor is to:
- Provide pastoral support, including any health, personal or coping issues, and/or direct their advisees to appropriate persons for assistance
- Monitor advisees’ progress by reading their University supervision reports and by being available for consultation, either in person or by email
- Discuss with advisees any problems or difficulties they may be experiencing in their Department or Faculty, and/or with their supervisor
- Consult the Academic Office if there are concerns about an advisee’s academic progress; offer guidance on sources of support available within the College and University.
In addition, College Advisors may be able to offer advisees advice on academic-related matters such as applications for research funding, conferences and seminar attendance, publication and career plans.
Training for this role is compulsory and is arranged through the Academic Office.
Associate Members can take part in the academic life of the College, and membership provides you with the use of the dining and social facilities of the College.
