Conferences

The Programme on Modern Burmese Studies has held a number of Conferences, details of which can be found on the individual pages below. 

A one-day workshop on ‘The Karen in 2017: Resilience, Aspirations and Politics’ organised by Dr Matthew J Walton was held at St Antony’s College on 15th June 2017.
 

A two-day workshop on ‘Gender, Rights and Justice in a Transitioning Myanmar’, organised by Drs Daw Khin Mar Mar Kyi and Matthew J Walton, was held at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford on 13th and 14th November 2017, jointly supported by the Programme on Modern Burmese Studies and the International Gender Studies Centre.
 

A two-day workshop on Interrogating Buddhism and Nationalism’, organised by Dr Matthew J Walton, was held at St Antony’s College on 27th and 28th January 2018, part of the ESRC-funded project “Understanding ‘Buddhist Nationalism’ in Myanmar: Religion, Gender, Identity, and Conflict in a Political Transition”.
