Ed served as the MP for Wantage Didcot from 2005 until 2019 and was the minister for culture and the creative industries and telecoms between 2010 and 2016. Ed was educated at Merton College, Oxford. After university, he worked as a political researcher, before training and practising as a barrister. From 1996 to 2004, he was director of a public relations company. He has a huge passion for culture and museums and earlier this year he joined Tate as a Trustee. He also serves as a governor of St Paul's school in London. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and an Honorary Fellow of the Radio Academy. Alongside all these activities, Ed does a weekly podcast entitled ‘Break Out Culture’ with journalist Charlotte Metcalf. Every week they interview leading figures from the world of the arts, to showcase some of the best events for that week.
