Cybersecurity is a worldwide issue of concern. South East Europe is a microcosm of the phenomenon, bringing sharply to the fore the interplay between cyber threats and geopolitics. What are the main issues and what are the countries of the region, and their allies, doing to protect themselves?

Lucas Kello is Associate Professor of International Relations at Oxford University. He serves as Senior Lecturer/Director of the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs, a major research initiative exploring the impact of modern technology on international relations, government, and society. He is also co-Director of the interdisciplinary Centre for Doctoral Training in Cyber Security at the Department of Computer Science. His publications include The Virtual Weapon and International Order (Yale University Press), “The Meaning of the Cyber Revolution: Perils to Theory and Statecraft” in International Security, and “Security” in The Oxford Companion to International Relations (Oxford University Press).

Cvete Koneska is the Head of Analysis at S-RM, a global risk consultancy company based in London. She leads a global team of analysts and researchers, providing geopolitical analysis and political risk advice to companies, investors and governments. Prior to that, she completed her DPhil in Politics at St Antony's College, investigating political elites in the post-conflict environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia. She continues to write, comment and publish on Balkans-related topics.
