Andi Hoxhaj is a Lecturer in Law at the University College London, Faculty of Laws, and teaches in the European Union Law, Public Law, and Tort Law modules. Dr Hoxhaj was formally based at the University of Warwick and his a recipient of “The Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence 2021” and the “British Academy Rising Star Award in 2018”. Dr Hoxhaj research areas include corruption, the rule of law and EU enlargement policy in the Western Balkans and he is an author of a book entitled, “The EU Anti-Corruption Policy: A Reflexive Governance Approach (Routledge, 2020)”. He has a number of peer-reviewed articles published in leading academic journals on the rule of law, anti-corruption, academic freedom, authoritarianism and European enlargement policy, and he is regularly quoted in the international media. Dr Hoxhaj is also the Freedom House Nation in Transit 2022 country report author for Albania and his insight on corruption, good governance, rule of law, and the migration of young people in the Western Balkans were referred to in a UK parliamentary inquiry report “The UK and the future of the Western Balkans”. Dr Hoxhaj gave evidence to the Affairs Committee parliamentary on hearing on Migration and Asylum: Albania in December 2022 and he is currently working on a research project entitled, “Albanian migrants in the UK”.

Peter Walsh is Senior Researcher at The Migration Observatory, and Departmental Lecturer in Migration Studies, University of Oxford. His research examines UK immigration policy, including family migrationstudent migrationsettlementirregular migrationdetentiondeportationasylumAfghan refugee resettlementUkrainian refugee migrationsmall boat arrivals, and the Hong Kong route to citizenship. Peter is the Observatory’s spokesperson on several of these areas, and regularly gives expert interviews to major newspapers, and for national and international radio and television.Peter received his BA (Social and Political Sciences), MPhil (Modern Society and Global Transformations), and PhD (Sociology) from the University of Cambridge.

Fabian Zhilla is an affiliated Senior Fellow at the Global Initiative against Transnational Crime. He also works as consultant for EU projects and has contributed to several studies on terrorism and cybercrime in Albania. Fabian teaches at Canadian Institute of Technology in Albania.  Fabian is awarded with both Fulbright Scholarship and Chevening Scholarship. In 2017 he was a visiting scholar at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University. He wrote his PhD on Albanian judicial corruption and its links with organized crime at Kings College London in 2012. Dr. Zhilla also lead a three years project on the study of organized crime in Albania under the auspices of Open Society Foundation, 2013-2017.
