Manolo was born in Vienna to Mexican parents and moved to the UK to read International Relations at the LSE. The day after my graduation ceremony in Oxford, where he completed the MSc in Latin American Studies, Manolo relocated to Mexico where he has lived ever since.

Manolo has since served in the public sector in various advisory and executive roles, including in the Senate, the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, as well as on two presidential campaigns, oftentimes working alongside fellow Oxford alumni.

In 2011 and then again in 2023/24, Manolo led the Oxford alumni association in Mexico. Since 2023, he is Senior Director of Corporate Affairs, leading on Sustainability and Public Policy, at Walmart Mexico and Central America.
