Antonian Appointed NYC Commissioner

Antonian Nisha Agarwal (Development Studies, 2000) has been appointed Commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), as announced by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Agarwal brings extensive experience in public service and policy. She previously served as Executive Director for Policy and Communications in the Division of Mental Hygiene at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. She has also held senior roles in City government, including leading the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, where she helped oversee major civic initiatives.

As Commissioner, Agarwal will lead citywide efforts to improve accessibility and advance equitable access the city’s spaces, services, and resources for every New Yorker.
