Antonian awarded Pulitzer Prize
We are pleased to offer our heartfelt congratulations to the Washington Post’s David E. Hoffman, who has been awarded the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Writing for his articles on authoritarianism.
David spent a year as a Senior Associate Member at St Antony’s from 1994 to 1995. He was preparing to take over as the Washington Post’s Moscow correspondent. ‘Although already an experienced and highly respected journalist’, notes Emeritus Professor Archie Brown, ‘David prepared for his Moscow assignment like an MPhil student for examinations’.
Hoffman was awarded the Pulitzer Prize ‘for a compelling and well-researched series on new technologies and the tactics authoritarian regimes use to repress dissent in the digital age, and how they can be fought.’
