Antonian wins 2025 Heinz Award for the Economy

Antonian Byron Auguste (MPhil Economics; DPhil Economics, 1989) has won the 30th Heinz Award for the Economy. Dr Auguste received the award for his work as the founder of Opportunity@Work, an organisation that uses research and data visualisation tools to help companies modify their talent acquisition practices. Notably, he strives to recognise the value and potential of ‘STARs’, workers ‘Skilled Through Alternative Routes’ rather than a bachelor’s degree. In doing so, his work seeks to remove the barriers blocking 50% of US workers from accessing opportunities for upward career mobility.

The Heinz Awards were created to honour the memory of the late US Senator John Heinz, and are awarded by The Heinz Family Foundation. They recognise individuals making significant contributions to the arts, the economy and the environment. As part of the accolade, Dr Auguste will receive an unrestricted cash award of $250,000.
