Mark Fisher 1944 – 2025

We were very sorry to learn of the death of Mark Fisher, former Labour MP and minister for Culture, Media and Sport, 1997-98. Mark was an erudite, popular and conscientious Visiting Parliamentary Fellow of St Antony’s in the academic year 2000-2001, forming an excellent team with Gillian (now Baroness) Shephard (Education Secretary of State in the Conservative government headed by John Major). The eight seminars under their joint auspices were among the best in the Parliamentary Fellowship series.
