Professor Leigh Payne selected as 2025-26 Harvard Radcliffe Institute Fellow

St Antony’s Professor of Sociology and Latin America Leigh Payne has been selected as the Lisa Goldberg fellow for the 2025–2026 academic year by the Harvard Radcliffe Institute.

The Radcliffe Institute fellowship provides the opportunity to intensely pursue ambitious projects in the unique environment of the Institute, a highly interdisciplinary institution that seeks to tackle some of the most pressing issues in today’s world. Each fellowship class is drawn from some of the most insightful and thoughtful contemporary scholars in the social sciences, arts and humanities – along with writers, journalists and other distinguished professionals. Professor Payne was selected as one of roughly 50 fellows chosen out of a pool of 1,677 applications.

As the Lisa Goldberg Fellow, Professor Payne will work to develop an understanding of how to strengthen norms against conflict-related sexual violence through her study of perpetrators’ confessions to rape in Colombia’s 50-year civil war.
