Professor Raihan Ismail elected as Corresponding Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities
We are delighted to congratulate St Antony’s Governing Body Fellow Professor Raihan Ismail, His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies, following her election as a Corresponding Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
As one of Australia’s five Learned Academies, the Australian Academy of the Humanities was established in 1969 to advance knowledge of, and the pursuit of excellence in the humanities. The Fellowship of the Academy comprises more than 700 distinguished individuals elected in recognition of the excellence and impact of their scholarship in various humanities fields including archaeology, the arts, Asian and European studies, classical studies, Indigenous studies, literature, cultural and communication studies, languages and linguistics, philosophy, musicology, history, and religion.
Professor Ismail’s election as a Corresponding Fellow is a significant achievement and is testament to the outstanding contribution she has made to her discipline, and the exceptionally high regard in which Professor Ismail is held by her peers in the humanities community, both in Australia and abroad.
