Dr Weiwei Zhou

Weiwei Zhou is an associate professor at Sichuan University in China. Her research interest is mainly about fashion, art, and cultural history of early modern France, especially clothing fashion around the French Revolution. She is trying to observe and interpret the interactions between the state and society through the changes in fashion, the transformation from traditional to modern periods in people’s dressing codes, and the role that fashion played during the process of modernization. Her current research project delves into the role of the public sphere in fashion diffusion, and her academic research project at Oxford is titled “The Expansion of Urban Space and the Rise of Fashion Business in Early Modern Europe.”
