Ali Reza Sheikholeslami
Professor Ali Reza Sheikholeslami (Visiting Fellow, 1978; SCR Member 1991-1999) died on 9 January 2018. He was former Professor and Soudavar Chair of Persian Studies at Wadham College. Reza Sheikholeslami was appointed the first holder of the Soudavar Chair in 1990. He received a BA from Columbia, MAs from Northwestern and Oxford, a PhD from the University of California, and held academic positions at the University of Washington and Harvard. He published works on the ‘Political Economy of Saudi Arabia’ and ‘The Structure of Central Authority in Qajar Iran 1871-1896.’
