Donor Recognition
St Antony’s College would not exist without the generosity of its benefactors; it was, after all, founded in 1950 as the result of a gift of Antonin Besse. The College recognises its donors in a variety of ways, and involves them in the life of St Antony’s on both a formal and an informal basis.
Foundation Fellow
A Foundation Fellow is any person (or funding body such as a business or foundation) who has made gifts totalling more than £250,000 to the College or one of its Centres.
- Foundation Fellows are permanent College Members, and are invited as such by Governing Body following their nomination by the Warden.
- College Membership for Foundation Fellows grants access to the College’s social and academic facilities, including the Senior Common Room, Combined Common Room and the College Library.
- With the assistance of the College, Foundation Fellows can apply for a University Card, which they need to have to get a college email address.
-
Foundation Fellows are encouraged to engage as much as possible in the College – academically and socially – which will help them with their own interests – through access to Fellows, students, other academic visitors and senior members, as well as to contribute to the College with their experiences
from outside academia. - To make sure the Foundation Fellows receive communications about events in the College, their email address will be added to the appropriate mailing list.
-
Meals taken at the College are free of charge to Foundation Fellows.
High Tables attended by Foundation Fellows and up to three guests are funded by the College. - The annual Governing Body Dinner is provided at the College’s expense to Foundation Fellows and their partners.
- Foundation Fellows are invited to the Termly Drinks Reception and Dinner, and the annual Senior Members’ Forum.
- Foundation Fellows are entitled to bring guests into College and can use its car park.
-
Foundation Fellows are invited to have their name to be added on a Benefactors’ Board that will be placed in the Hilda Besse Building to honour the College’s most important donors. If they wish so, profiles of the donors will be posted on the College website, and their Foundation Fellowship will
also be acknowledged annually in The Antonian and College Record. - The Development Office of St Antony’s will nominate the Foundation Fellow for membership of the University’s Vice Chancellor’s Circle.
